On average we only complete one or two pieces a week. Not because we're slow, but because this stuff takes time. We do everything ourselves, we even make your box, your packaging, it's all made by us. We believe in a total DIY approach to making, every human element that we can add, we do, because it all matters, not just when you're wearing the piece, whether you're gifting it to a loved one or you're storing it away, everything has its place.

Our commission process is a little different to what you'd expect. We're not a typical jeweller just swapping stones through different designs. That's not bespoke, that has no meaning. You won't see our designs in a mock up or a CAD render, yeah the piece might not look exactly like our drawing, we hope not, it's a completely different process. We pray something magical happens when we make it, not because we don't like our drawings, but because we're making decisions along the way and reacting to new shapes, marks and ideas that present themselves in the process. If we think we can make it better, we will. Your trust in us will result in a truly unique piece, honestly meant to last generations.

To begin with we'd love to hear from you. Please tell us everything you can about what you'd like to achieve by working with us.

There are some finer details that we'll need to know, so if you can answer these honestly when you contact us (they're all listed on the contact page) that really helps us in our process. We'll respond within a week to discuss next steps - either meeting in our Melbourne studio or connecting via email or video. As we mentioned we make very few pieces each year, we like it like this. We want our work to be the best it can be. We don't outsource anything. We try to reuse as much as we can with very minimal waste which is rare for any jewellery company. Though it does mean that your pieces can take time and on average four to six months depending on the complexity of the designs and the rarity of the stones.

From here is where our design process starts to get more collaborative in some ways. We're visual people, and images help move us. We don't want to fit you in a box, we'd like to see what you see. Therefore we give you (or send to you if you can't make it into our studio), a camera loaded with film. We ask you to photograph your world. This doesn't need to be stressful, and we're not asking for pro shots, in many cases it's the rough, raw and half exposed shots that have the most meaning and influence on the design. What it does is help shape your world in just a few images and that's more helpful than any mood board on Pinterest. Though if you'd really like to send us other images that move you, please we'd love to see them. Think of the camera like you're documenting anything in your world, take a photo of your computer screen if you like, there's no rules here.

There is a cost to begin this design phase, and we charge $1000 AUD after our meeting and before you receive a camera. This helps us cover the cost of developing and postage, as well as the drawing and design work, any references and a detailed quote for the making of your piece. You will receive everything from this part of the design phase, your images, a drawing or group of drawings depending on the design and the quote. From here it is your decision whether we move forward in the making of your piece.
